Kettners Restaurant Review

My friend and I decided to go to Kettners for dinner after work one day and I thought I would share my views on this restaurant.

Kettners is located in the Soho area in London. My experience at this restaurant was definitely amazing.

Firstly, I thought the decor of the restaurant was really nice as it is a Grade II listed building and once you enter the restaurant, that is when you get a feel of what to expect. We were greeted by a lady near the door who was very polite. In fact, all the staff were polite and very attentive. I have found that in the past, I have not had the best experience when dining so I was really happy with the service.

The menu choice is quite limited. Here is the link to the dinner menu: here

I have to say though, the food was good quality but the portion size is really tiny as you can probably tell from the photo! I was not even close to being full after eating the gressingham duck breast with potato gratin and compote.

The duck was good and the spinach went down nicely. The potato gratin too was nice. All in all, it was a very enjoyable meal.

The restaurant really is elegant and classy and was a perfect choice for dinner. The service was amazing, the guy who served us was really friendly and attentive and made conversation with us which I was not expecting!

When we went to the restaurant, it was really hot that day and the air conditioning was broken apparently so it was absolutely boiling. I was having to fan myself using a menu which is not very classy but I was so hot!! They did however give us a bottle of water on the house which was generous so that was nice.

One big negative I have to point out is the seating. The chair I was sitting on was incredibly uncomfortable and I was only in the restaurant for a short amount of time (under an hour) as I only had a main course and we decided to go elsewhere for dessert. They definitely need some cushions as my bum started to hurt after around 20 minutes!

My rating

If I was to rate this restaurant, I would give it 8/10. The reason why I have given it 8 and not higher is because the price is sky high and although I liked the meal, the portion size isn't that big and it wasn't filling. I also have to admit that it wasn't that impressive as I have had better quality duck before which was cheaper. On the other hand, the service was amazing and that is why I have given it an 8.

Would I recommend it?

I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are after a nice dining experience and don't mind spending a lot of money on a small meal. The food choice is a little limited but the menu itself is pretty good.

I had really good service at this restaurant but I have to say that when I went, it was quite quiet as it was a Monday evening so I'm not sure how good the service would be on a Friday / Saturday evening.

Donatello Restaurant Review

Donatello is an Italian restaurant located in the lanes in Brighton. The lanes area in Brighton is such an amazing place and a great experience if you have never been! I have to say, Donatello is by far the best Italian food I have had. I have been to many Italian restaurants before including the big chains Prezzo, Zizzi, Pizza Express and Pizza Hut.

Donatello's pricing is so cheap compared to the big chains and the food in my opinion is amazing. I had a pasta dish, carbonara and ohmygod, it was amazing! Donatello give really generous portion sizes as you can tell from the photo below and it was very filling!

Donatello is known for its 2 course and 3 course set menu costing £7.95 and £9.95 respectively. This is a link for the website here and for the direct menu, the link is here.

I personally think there is a huge choice and I did struggle trying to pick what I wanted!

I chose to have the 2 course menu and chose carbonara for my main course and Bigne al Cioccolato (profiteroles filled with creme patissiere served with chocolate sauce). Wow the profiteroles were soo yummy!! By the end of my 2 courses, I was absolutely stuffed! If you love an Italian, you have to check out Donatello!

My rating

I would give it a 9/10. It is cheap, has a huge menu choice and the service was really good. The toilets weren't too bad either and it was a really nice experience. The location was also in an ideal place. The lanes really is an area to explore if you have never been to Brighton!

Would I recommend it?

Absolutely. If you love Italian, this is a restaurant you have to try. I can easily tell you that this restaurant is better than the big chains like Zizzi, Prezzo, Pizza Express etc. It is much cheaper if you go with the 2/3 course menu. You will not be disappointed. When the waiters and waitresses were bringing out everyone's food, it all looked amazing and as I said earlier, the portion size is very generous! Easily the best Italian I have had and I will definitely be going back!

10 Things I Like About Guys

I've finally uploaded the video I made on 10 Things I Like About Guys. Please ignore the preview photo on my video, I basically made a mistake and thought I was uploading something else! The video on Most Annoying Things People Do will be up next week.

Just want to say that I am quite picky when it comes to men. I am a very motivated individual and I feel like I can connect more with a guy who is also really motivated so please don't think I am a gold digger or whatever. I don't need someone to support me, I can support myself and money isn't everything. I just prefer guys to share similar interests that I have and has the same sort of drive as I do :)

If you have me on YouTube, you will know that I made a video on 10 Things I Don't Like About Guys so here is the link :)

BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Palette Review

"Inspired by the moons and planets of the universe, eyeshadow shades range from hot sun-orange to cool earth-blue and colors of the Milky Way."
This is one of my favourite palettes from BH Cosmetics. BH Cosmetics products are so affordable so if you can get your hands on them, I definitely would! The colours are so pigmented. It probably isn't a palette you could use everyday but it is definitely a palette you can experiment with and can create lots of really nice looks, especially for summer! I would say this product is probably best for special occasions.
The variety of colours are great and some are marbled so depending on where you swipe on each one, you can get different results.

My favourite shades are: sun, saturn and mars.

Positives:
- Very pigmented
- Very affordable
- Long lasting
Negatives:
- Fallout (most eyeshadows do have fallout so just make sure you tap off the excess)
- Packaging is a bit dodgy
