Beware of Tesco chicken!!

I have finally figured out that Tesco chicken is such bad quality!

I bought a pack of "chicken thighs" on Sunday (11th May) and opened it on Wednesday (14th May). I sooo should have returned it. I noticed this strong smell but just thought it was the smell of chicken as that is how Tesco chicken has been smelling recently. So I cooked two pieces and cling filmed the rest of the chicken in the box with 2 layers of cling film.

I went to open my chicken again yesterday and ohhhhmygod. It got worse, the chicken was like green/blue (the skin and the chicken) and it STANK! I felt so sick I just threw it in the bin. That made me so angry because chicken should not go off that quickly and I think that the chicken was already bad before.

Before you ask, it has nothing to do with the temperature of my fridge.

If in doubt, take your chicken back to Tesco!! I now buy my chicken from Sainsburys because it doesn't smell.

** Forgot to mention the best before date was 17th May....

Urban Decay Naked Palette Review

I have been wanting to buy this Naked palette for such a long time and I am so glad I have finally bought it. It is a little on the pricey side but so worth it. CLICK HERE

As soon as I opened it, I fell in love. There are 12 really pigmented shades and each of them are amazing. The packaging for this product really looks and feels high quality with the chocolaty velvet case and the gold inscription of "NAKED".

"Urban Decay's Naked Palette features a shade range that runs from the palest champagne to the grittiest gunmetal."

My Palette came with a double ended eyeshadow brush which I am so excited to try. It also came with 4 samples of the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer in 'original', 'sin', 'eden' and 'anti-aging'.
Original - dries down invisibly
Sin - shimmering champagne shade
Eden - subtle matte finish which covers and brightens the eye area
Anti-aging - improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in 8 weeks.

*Applying an eyeshadow primer is so important as it keeps your eyeshadow on. It also prevents creasing and I find that it prevents loads of fallout too.

I filmed a video creating 5 different eye looks so if you want to check them out, this is the link:
Urban Decay Naked Palette 5 Eye Looks Tutorial

From left to right:
Virgin is a pale, shimmery nude beige. (Perfect for under the brow as a highlight and for the inner corner to make your eyes look brighter and more awake.)
Sin is a frosty champagne shade with a touch of pink.
Naked is a matte beige-brown colour. The texture of this is really smooth. (Crease shade)
Sidecar is a shimmery medium bronze brown.
Buck is a medium brown with a matte finish. (Crease shade)
Half Baked is a sort of gold/coppery bronze with a frost-metallic finish.
Smog is a medium-dark bronze.
Darkhorse is a darkened deep chocolate brown. (Could use this on the outer V to create a smokey look)
Toasted is a medium dark pinky brown shade with a shimmery finish.
Hustle is a plummy brown shade with a shimmery finish.
Creep is a dark blue-black base with a shimmery finish.
Gunmetal is a blue-grey metallic shade.

*** TIP TO MAKE EYESHADOW MORE PIGMENTED: SPRAY FIX + (MAC) ON YOUR BRUSH AND DIP INTO YOUR EYESHADOW, THEN APPLY ***

Likes
- The shades in this palette are amazing. I would use every single one of them.
- Can create lots of different looks
- Packaging looks really good
- All the eyeshadows are really pigmented
- Double ended brush (crease and shadow brush)

Dislikes
- It doesn't have a dark brown matte shade

Favourite shadows
- Sin
- Sidecar
- Half-baked

Would I recommend this product?
Absolutely. This palette is literally perfect for anyone and it is so travel friendly. It's one of those palettes that everyone should own. You can create sooo many looks with this palette and every single shade is super pigmented and it is just so amazing!! I am so glad I didn't wait any longer to buy it.

There are 2 other Naked palettes although I am not quite sure if I would buy them. The packaging also doesn't look as good as this one. If I was to get another palette, I would get the Naked 2.

- Prior to applying the Maybelline instant pore eraser, I had put on moisturiser. You should always use moisturiser before applying any make-up to your face.
- When using a sponge to apply foundation and concealer, make sure it is damp as that is how it is applied best.
- The brushes I use in this video are Real Techniques and BH cosmetics.
- When applying eyeshow, pat the eyeshadow on as I find this prevents lots of fallout.
- Whenever I use eyeshadow, I will always use a matte brown eyeshadow in my crease.
- When applying powder on your eyebrows, use short strokes as this makes your eyebrows look more natural.
- I used very little bronzer to contour my face in this tutorial because it is a day look. Usually when I am doing a more desired look, I will opt for more bronzer.
- When applying blusher, dust it on lightly because if you start off using too much blusher, it is very difficult to fix so applying it lightly means you can apply it until you reach the desired effect.
- Applying highlighter or illuminator on your face instantly gives you a nice glow.

Anyway, thank you so much for your support so far :)

My favourite hair products

I thought I would share my favourite hair products right now!

The products
L'Oréal Paris Studio Line Curl & Gloss Curl Mousse click here

Osmo Extreme Volume Root Lifter 250ml click here
Osmo Extreme Volume Thickening Creme 150ml click here
Pure Hair Oil, Argan Oil moisturising 40ml (not available online)
I would recommend Pure Argan Oil for Hair and Skin by Poppy Austin click here

Argan oil
Firstly, pure argan oil is really good to apply into the ends of your hair, especially if you suffer from dry hair from all the straightening, curling and blow-drying. Argan oil instantly hydrates and protects your hair. I usually put 3-4 drops into the palm of my hand then rub my hands together and apply onto the ends then if I have any left, I just run my hands through the rest of my hair. The amount of drops you use is dependent on your hair length. I have quite long hair so if you have short hair you will probably only need 1-2 drops. This should be applied when your hair is damp. You should go on to blowdry your hair. I usually blowdry my hair with a big round brush in my hand as I find this the quickest way to dry my hair.

L'Oréal Paris Studio Line Curl & Gloss Curl Mousse
I think the packaging for this product has changed! I bought my product a long time ago and don't really use mine that often although I do love it. I don't apply this product the way it is meant to be applied. I actually use this once I've curled my hair. The mousse has a foamy texture that disappears after application and does not feel sticky which is one of the main benefits of this product. I find it keeps my curls in place. I use around 2-3 pumps of this around my hair. I apply the mousse to start with at the ends of my hair. I grab my curls together and squeeze the curls upwards in a ball so that it stays in place. (Not sure if that makes any sense but I will try and get a picture of me doing this so you know what I mean!).

Silhouette by Schwarzkopf Super Hold Hairspray
This has become my new obsession. You probably don't know this but I am obsessed with hairspray and have been for years. I would always have a huge bottle of hairspray in my locker at school and all the girls knew this so if they needed hairspray, they knew where to go! The one I used to be obsessed with before I found my current favourite was L'oreal Elnett click here. I must have gone through 1 a month!! Anyway, I always found the L'oreal Elnett smelt so bad so when I found the Silhouette one, I was really pleased that it doesn't have that really foul hairspray smell. I first discovered this hairspray when I got my haircut I think at Rush? Anyway, when they sprayed it on, my hair stayed in place so well so I knew I had to go and buy this product. I went a little crazy and actually bought 5 of these huge bottles. I haven't even gone through one of them and I've had this product for about 3 months! If you are looking for a new hairspray, check this one out!

Osmo Extreme Volume Root Lifter
This product is amazing! It really does lift your roots. This product is applied when your hair is partially dry. Squirt this all over the roots and then use a big round brush and start blowdrying your hair with it. By using a big round brush, it will also help to lift your roots so you don't have flat hair!

Osmo Extreme Volume Thickening Creme
I use this product after the root lifter and it works a treat. Massage this product into the roots and then use the big round brush and start blowdrying. You should have more volume in your hair!

I have deliberately chosen a bronzer which is a bit shimmery for that "natural glow". My face is naturally lighter than my neck which is the case for most people. The bronzer I used is actually a perfect colour to match my neck. I focused applying my bronzer around the sides of my face and dusted a tiny amount in the centre of my face.

If you have acne or lots of imperfections on your face such as redness, you can apply a foundation as this will give you a lot more coverage than just applying a bronzer. After applying the bronzer, I applied concealer under my eyes by drawing an upside down triangle then blended in the concealer with my ring finger by patting it into my skin. If you have any small imperfections such as a few spots, go ahead and apply the concealer over those areas and using the same method, pat the concealer in. (Try not to rub concealer in by dragging your finger under the eye because it rubs the concealer off and you don't get a good coverage).

Next step is to curl your eyelashes before applying mascara. I use two eyelash curlers. Firstly the muji click here then the shiseido click here. I love my shiseido eyelash curlers because they really clamp your eyelashes and give them a really nice lift. I've chosen a lengthening mascara because I naturally have really short eyelashes. Apply one coat of mascara then leave it to dry before applying another if you want fuller lashes. I do my eyebrows after applying one coat of mascara. I used the powder from my sleek brow kit and applied it by using short brush strokes just to darken the colour of my eyebrows. After doing your eyebrows, curl your eyelashes again because if you have eyelashes which grow downwards like I do, you will need to curl them. Add one more coat of mascara and then on to the lips. I applied my lip balm in cherry me as it adds a really subtle colour. Last step is to curl your eyelashes one more time and you are done!!

How to apply nail varnish

4 steps to perfect nails

1. File your nails to the desired shape. You can buff your nails next so that nail varnish applies smoother.
2. Apply a clear base coat. I tend to apply this step very thinly.
3. Apply the colour generously. When applying colour, I usually start by applying one stroke in the middle of the nail then on the sides. You could do two coats of colour but if you do, make sure it is applied thinly each time or it can get really thick. If you have time, wait around 10 minutes before the next step.
4. Apply a top coat. This is really important as it helps prevent the nail varnish from chipping.

If you get nail varnish over the sides of your nails, cuticles etc, you can use a cotton bud to clear it up. Simply dip the cotton bud into nail varnish remover and work carefully by removing as much as you can. I try to avoid this step as you can easily get fluff on your nails. I would say to leave the nails to dry for about an hour and then wash your hands with warm water and try to scrape off the nail varnish on your skin. I find this is an easier way to remove nail varnish on skin.

I mixed the number 1 shades together and applied it on my crease. Remember, with any powder product, make sure you tap off the excess or it will just get really messy and ruin your make-up! It is especially important when applying eyeshadow because it will get all over your foundation which is a pain to clean up. I applied number 2 which is a shimmery silver/bronze colour all over my eyelid. I then went on to apply the number 3 shade which is black on my outer V to create the smokey look. Make sure you blend and blend and blend until you have no harsh lines. To complete my eye look, I applied the white shimmery shade, number 4 on the inner corner of my eye as this instantly brightens up and opens up your eye and  generally makes it look better. Finally, I applied a nice pink blush on my cheeks. This palette is so good for day and night time looks so if you get a chance, this would be a purchase you will not regret!

I was trying to apply my lipstick on the dance floor and I messed it up big time. This lipstick was bought two days ago and I managed to do this to it!! I was and still am sooo annoyed. It is such an amazing colour too. Makes me want to go back to revlon to purchase another because this is ruined :(

So tonight, the plan was only to go to a nice bar to have a few drinks. Ended up in my student union which is massive and one of the best in the UK. A couple of jaeger bombs later and we are dancing. It was definitely a spontaneous night!! I didn't feel comfortable at first though because when I go out, I like to wear heels, do my hair properly, (I literally just sprayed my hair with hairspray and I was out the door) wear a nice dress and cover myself in fake tan. So for me, this was a very casual look for a proper night out!!

So I wore a red sparkly strappy dress from bank fashion. I got this in the sale last week. Bank have an amazing collection so definitely go check out the website! I wore black tights, black flats and a black clutch with my dress.

My make-up stayed on so well throughout the whole night even though I was dancing. I really do think wearing a primer helps your foundation stay in place and the one I used from No7 helped my skin stay oil free so I had a dewy look. I didn't powder at all throughout the night (5 hours)!!

I am still sooooo annoyed about my lipstick though because it is the second one I have ruined and I only got my revlon lipsticks 2 days ago!! When you are being really careful, you are always going to mess up!! I found out the hard way.....

The next make-up look I will be doing is a more natural look so we are talking minimal make-up!

This is a really easy look which you can wear everyday. It will also make you look more awake with the white shimmery eyeshadow applied on the inner corners of the eye and with a lighter shade of concealer, it will brighten up your under eye area. Using a highlighter will accentuate your features and give you a healthy glow.

I used a very light coverage foundation. I mixed my L'oreal BB cream with my L'oreal Eau de teint foundation because my BB cream is actually too light for my skin so I needed to mix it with my foundation to make it darker. Any spots or imperfections that were still showing, I covered with concealer.

For my crease I used a soft brown shade (bottom left corner) I then applied the shimmery orangey shade (top middle) all over my eyelid and went on to apply a dark brown shade on my outer V. I applied the white shimmery shade (top left corner) on my inner corner to brighten up my eyes. I used a nice pink shade for my blush.

Louis Vuitton handbag review. Is it worth it?

In April 2013, I purchased the Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM handbag click here. Unfortunately, it seems that my bag is not available in the normal lining in the medium size. It is however available in the small size and the large size.

This is how my handbag looked when I first took it out in April 2013. I got my handbag personalised by adding my initials in gold. This is one of things I love about Louis Vuitton. The handbag itself is actually quite big which is ideal as I tend to always carry a make-up bag, bottle of water, umbrella etc. One thing you should be aware of is that this bag doesn't have a zip at the top. It does have one inside the bag though but you can't carry much in that little section. Be really careful if you take this bag out to places like London as it is really busy, you may not realise if someone has stolen from you, especially when people are bumping into you on a regular basis. Just make sure you can see your purse at all times and keep your ipod/phone in the side pocket where you can zip it closed.

Neverfull MM
My initials on the right handle of the bag

This is the cover for the bag that is provided.

Prior to buying the bag, I was on the Louis Vuitton website looking at this bag for about 3 months. When you are thinking about making a big purchase, you should really read about the product and go and actually try the bag. I tried this bag three times before I actually bought it! The one thing I questioned was the strength of the handles because they are really thin. When I asked this question, the man said that the bag had actually been tested and can carry something like 50kg....

This is what my bag looks like currently with things in it.

My bag with things inside.

The things inside the bag. It really can carry so much! As you can tell from the above photo, you can carry a lot more than what I have pictured here. However, I would refrain from doing that if you don't want to ruin the shape of your bag.
So after a year, my bag has got a little darker, the handles are more noticeably darker. All in all, I would definitely buy another Louis Vuitton bag because I really do love this so much! I tend to wear this bag when it isn't raining outside because I don't want to ruin it by wearing it in rain!

The next designer handbag I am thinking of buying is the Mulberry Bayswater in oak click here. I have a mulberry purse so they would match!!

Please let me know your opinions of the Mulberry Bayswater as I am still thinking about it!

A spot of shopping at Boots

I went on a little shopping trip to Boots in Loughborough. I already had a list of products I wanted to try from research and I ended up picking these products:

- No 7 Stay Perfect primer available here
I have really oily skin so I tried this particular product in Boots on the back of my hand. The consistency seemed okay and I have read loads of reviews on this product. People rated it 4.5 out of 5 stars therefore I thought it would be a great primer to try. This product is oil-free so is an ideal product for you if you suffer from oily skin like me. The product claims to 'create a perfect canvas for foundation to keep skin flawless all day'. It also says that it contains Burdock which is meant to help prevent blemishes and Vitamins A and E to help condition and also to revitalise skin. It does say that you only need a tiny amount so hopefully my product will last a long time! I will keep you posted about this product!
The one thing which really annoys me about this product is that it is only 20ml. I would say for a No.7 product, it is quite expensive for so little.

I do have a lot of other primers to use. If I am being honest, I only started using a primer under my foundation about 3 days ago... I have just never bothered before as I never thought it would do much to my skin. It is meant to keep your make-up on for longer. I would say it would depend on what primer you use as some will be bad and some will be amazing. I have heard a lot about the Benefit POREfessional available here and everyone loves it. It is meant to be the UK's no.1 best selling primer. I have tried this product when I visited Benefit but I thought I would look around to see if there is a cheaper alternative. To be honest, I will probably end up buying this product eventually.

- No.7 Brilliantly Bare Beauty Enhancer available here
This product is another one I researched in depth. This is rated 5 out of 5 stars! This product is really lightweight in texture and is so easy to apply. I would use this once I have applied my moisturiser so this would basically be a base for my foundation. This product claims to minimise pores.I will again update you on this product at a later stage.

- No.7 Extreme length mascara available here
I have been looking for a mascara to make my lashes longer as I naturally have really short lashes. This would be for my bottom lashes as I tend to wear false eyelashes on a daily basis instead of applying mascara on my top lashes as it is much quicker to just apply lashes. I have used many No.7 mascaras before and I have never really been disappointed by them. Currently. I am using the No.7 Fanomenal Lashes mascara available here which is really good but it's about to run out so I thought I would try a different No.7 mascara.

- Maybelline Fit me concealer available here
From watching loads of Youtube videos, loads of the beauty gurus have been using this concealer and have raved about it. I got this concealer in 25 I think that is a medium shade for tanned skin people. I hope this colour will work out well under my eyes but I have only swatched it on the back of my hand. It seems to rub in well when I tried it so I am really excited to try it.

- Maybelline Baby Skin instant pore eraser available here
So I have heard mixed reviews about this product. I thought I would give it a try. This product comes out clear and is easy to blend. I'm not sure if it does leave my skin looking poreless... I think I need to give this product another chance though because I am wearing a really light foundation coverage.

- Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer available here
Not sure why on the Boots website this product isn't available but it is available in store. I got the shade nude which I hope will be okay for my skin tone. They don't seem to have a large selection of colours... i only saw two shades, light and nude so I went for the darker shade. This again has been raved about by beauty gurus so thought I would try this out!

- Revlon colourburst lip butters available here

There is a huge selection of colours in this range and the packaging on these products are so cute! I bought 3 shades: tutti frutti, wild watermelon and candy apple. The colours are so nice. Tutti frutti is an orangey shade and the other two are more of a reddy shade which I love. It is totally appropriate for work as the colours don't come out too bold. I will probably end up buying more from this range because the colours are so nice.

Lancome Visionnaire and Genefique Yeux
I got given these free samples which I am really excited to try!

Genefique Yeux is available here
I actually already have this product and I have to admit, it is absolutely amazing! It is so soft in texture and really easy to rub in under the eyes. This product is meant to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and make the under eye area feel more smoother and softer. I would give this product 5 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for an eye cream, get this one because you will love it!

Visionnaire is available here
This is an advanced skin corrector for wrinkles, pores and eyenness. I am excited to try this product as it is meant to visibly reduce wrinkles, minimise pores and imperfections like uneven skin tone. I really hope this product does what it says and it is never too early to use these sorts of products even if you don't have wrinkles! The earlier you start, the better it is!

Dressing to impress on board a cruise ship

I have chosen a selection of photos from a recent cruise around the Canary Islands. Cruising is easily my favourite type of holiday. You get to visit many places in a short amount of time and I never get bored! There is so much to do on a cruise ship. I went on Ventura (P&O cruises) which in comparison to some of the ships I've been on was pretty bad.... If you are thinking about going on a cruise, definitely look into Royal Caribbean. The shows are amazing and there is so much to do, from wall-climbing to relaxing in a jacuzzi! There are so many swimming pools and loads of jacuzzis so you can relax during sea days.

My favourite part of the holiday is probably getting ready for dinner. I easily spend up to 3 hours to get ready..... That does include having a shower!!

Dinner is usually around 6pm or 8pm depending on what time you choose if you want a set table throughout your cruise. You can alternatively just rock up to dinner at anytime and do the 'anytime dining'. I would say is never as good as a set table because with a set table, you get to know your waiters and they know what you want (drinks) every time you sit down so it will be waiting for you when you get there!

This dress was from Asos. It is just a pretty plain white dress. I paired it with nude heels.
Anyway, back to getting ready for dinner. I will plan my outfits probably before I even go on holiday for each night. There are a few formal evenings throughout your cruise but it depends on the duration of your cruise. I will always take a huge make-up bag for a cruise because it is so important you have a selection of products to use, especially when you will probably get a tan! I spend around 1.5 hours on make-up, then around 20-30minutes on my hair. I usually like to curl my hair because we always have photos taken every night on the cruise. Sometimes they are taken professionally so I tend to put even more make-up on and spray my hair more with my favourite hairspray which you can purchase here.

This dress was bought from House of Fraser. It is a perfect choice for any formal evening event. A pair of strappy silver heels would go perfectly with this dress!

This is one of my favourite dresses! It was bought from Asos in the sale. This would be perfect for a dressy party! My heels were bought from Missguided and they have a red sole!

This is a photo with my older sister, Fiona in the beautiful black dress. Both of our dresses were bought from House of Fraser. If you are looking for an evening dress, take a trip to House of Fraser as it usually has a big selection! I wore silver sparkling strappy heels with my dress.
This dress is from Rare. I paired this with nude heels. This dress is perfect for going clubbing. I usually wear this dress with a black blazer and black heels.

This dress is from Rare which I got for £20. Always check the sale section as they have a great selection of dresses! I tend to wear this when I go clubbing as it is definitely clubbing appropriate! I paired this with black heels and a black clutch. My clutch was from Debenhams.

Again, this is a perfect dress for any formal evening event. This dress is from Debenhams and my clutch is unfortunately not available in the colour pictured but is available in navy here. I also paired this dress with silver sparkly strappy heels!
