How to apply nail varnish

4 steps to perfect nails

1. File your nails to the desired shape. You can buff your nails next so that nail varnish applies smoother.
2. Apply a clear base coat. I tend to apply this step very thinly.
3. Apply the colour generously. When applying colour, I usually start by applying one stroke in the middle of the nail then on the sides. You could do two coats of colour but if you do, make sure it is applied thinly each time or it can get really thick. If you have time, wait around 10 minutes before the next step.
4. Apply a top coat. This is really important as it helps prevent the nail varnish from chipping.

If you get nail varnish over the sides of your nails, cuticles etc, you can use a cotton bud to clear it up. Simply dip the cotton bud into nail varnish remover and work carefully by removing as much as you can. I try to avoid this step as you can easily get fluff on your nails. I would say to leave the nails to dry for about an hour and then wash your hands with warm water and try to scrape off the nail varnish on your skin. I find this is an easier way to remove nail varnish on skin.
